How to Convert Legacy BIOS to UEFI in Windows 10 - Make Tech Easier Summarising this should solve this frustrating probem with the start menu that doesn't work and the reason is that if the system disk is NOT set UEFI, then it cannot be selected for booting. Once you have done this, you can access your BIOS (set-up) again and also set Secure Boot because you cannot set this BIOS option unless both BIOS and W10 allows UEFI boot. Now go to the link below and convert W10 from BIOS to UEFI boot. Next you need to convert you W10 installation to UEFI and this can be done without having to install W10 from scratch as long as certain conditions are met. Now, re-enter the BIOS once more CHECK that the boot option is set to BOTH BIOS/UEFI if this is not alreay set by Lenovo when you purchased the computer. That should bring you back to the desktop of your W10. In setup find the section where it allow you to set the BIOS to failsafe or factory default, exist with save.

To get out of the start up menu, press tab and get back to SETUP. If you get stuck on the BIOS menu asking your to select the boot drive, the reason why it sends you around in circles is that W10 is not set up for UEFI.
